STUDENT SPACE · TOPIC 4
Concentration and titration calculations
Convert concentration units and calculate unknown concentration from titration data.
The essentials
- Use the final volume of the solution, not the volume of water added.
- n = cV; V = n/c. Use V in dm³ when c is in mol/dm³.
- Molar concentration: amount (mol) ÷ solution volume (dm³).
- Mass concentration: mass (g) ÷ solution volume (dm³).
Key vocabulary
| English | Chinese |
|---|---|
| concentration | 浓度 |
| solution volume | 溶液体积 |
| titration | 滴定 |
Quick practice
Why does the expression 0.100 × 20.0 give the wrong number of moles for 20.0 cm³ solution?
Need a hint?
Use the relationships above and check particle ratios and units.
Check your reasoning after trying
The volume must be in dm³: use 0.0200, not 20.0.
Use Lesson 4 in your worksheet for written practice. Your teacher will discuss those answers in class.
